Hi there! This morning I've finished my taxes, cleaned my bedroom, read some of a great book, and fed my fish. Of course, it's snowing, so I'm waiting for the sun to come out before I leave the house... because I've got the whole week off, I can afford to be patient like that!
Okay, the name of this blog sounds a little odd. Vicious Bichir? Weird. Okay, the explanation:
My 10 gallon fishtank had four happy residents; a dark blue beta, a nervous rainbow shark, a social blue gurami, and an over-caffinated chinese algae eater. But my secret yearning was to add something more, something beyond the normal... I wanted a Dragon Goby! Well, my roommate got a fish tank, and we headed off to some pet store to get him some fishies. Lo and behold, they also sold my holy grail, the Dragon Goby! But also, something new, something more active, but just as cool to watch, a Dinosaur Bichir. I talked to the salesman a little bit, and settled on the bichir. Eelish, tan, big spiny fins... it's like something from a horror movie, but shrunk down to fit into the tank in my bedroom! Three days go by, and it's all good. On Sunday night, I checked my little buddies, turned off the light, and went to sleep. When I awoke on Monday morning for the daily feeding, I couldn't find the beta. Well, he was huddled in the corner, without a tail or a dorsal fin! As he'd been co-existing with the others for over a month, I had to suspect the new guy... my vicious bichir!
